The authentic-but-mundane lineage AARO says the retrieval narrative traces to: DIA's cancelled AAWSAP/AATIP program and the proposed-but-rejected DHS 'Kona Blue' SAP — where alien material was assumed, never collected.
AARO traced the legacy/retrieval claim to real programs misread as ET cover. AAWSAP/AATIP (DIA, 2008-2012, primary contractor Bigelow Aerospace) was cancelled for lack of merit/utility; the AATIP label was later used by an informal, unofficial, unfunded DoD community-of-interest. 'Kona Blue' was a proposed DHS Special Access Program to reverse-engineer ET craft its advocates ASSUMED existed — rejected by DHS leaders, never stood up, no material ever transferred. AARO's decisive line: 'no extraterrestrial craft or bodies were ever collected — this material was only assumed to exist by KONA BLUE advocates,' the same assumption carried from AAWSAP/AATIP. A real, authentic program lineage — not an alien one.
