Founder of the IFSB (1952); his 1953 claim of being silenced by three black-clad men is the documented origin point of the entire Men in Black mythology.
Founded the International Flying Saucer Bureau (1952), publisher of Space Review (~1,000 members); organized 'World Contact Day' (C-Day, 15 Mar 1953). Sept 1953: claimed three men in black who had read his unpublished UFO 'solution' warned him to stop; folded the IFSB and went silent 9 years. Final Space Review carried the cryptic 'we have been advised in the negative' notice. In Flying Saucers and the Three Men (1962) he recast the visitors as aliens from planet 'Kazik' who floated and had glowing eyes. Disowned the contemporaneous Bridgeport Herald 'Mystery Visitors Halt Research' article (1953) as error-filled.
