[DOCUMENTED] The 1968/69 University of Colorado 'Scientific Study of Unidentified Flying Objects' (Air Force-funded), directed by physicist Edward U. Condon. Its foreword recommended against further UFO study, yet the body left >30% of investigated cases unexplained, including Lakenheath-Bentwaters ('Case 2') which it rated among the most puzzling, and it reviewed the RB-47 case.
Produced by the Condon Committee (existing node condon_committee). Used to justify closing Project Blue Book (1969). Its internal contradiction (dismissive foreword vs. many residual unknowns) was the focus of James McDonald's critique and the 'Trick Memo' controversy. Staffer Gordon Thayer's radar-visual chapter is the source of the Lakenheath 'fairly high probability' language.
