The RAF Cosford/Shawbury sightings were part of a UK-wide wave on the night of 30-31 March 1993, when a security guard at RAF Cosford and a meteorological officer at RAF Shawbury independently reported a large, fast, low-flying craft with a beam of light. The reports are documented in MoD files later released to the National Archives and were taken seriously by the MoD's UFO desk. They matter as one of Britain's best-documented military-witness cases; the MoD never identified the object, though some link the wave to a re-entering Russian rocket body.
