On 23 Oct 2010, 50 Minuteman III ICBMs at F.E. Warren AFB (Wyoming; 90th Missile Wing, controls 150 ICBMs) dropped into 'LF Down' status for roughly an hour, severing missileer communications and disabling intrusion/warhead-separation alarms; President Obama was briefed. The USAF attributed it to a single hardware/cable issue and stated redundant systems preserved full command and launch capability throughout. Robert Hastings interviewed law-enforcement and civilian witnesses to UFO activity near the silos between Sept 2010 and Apr 2011 but explicitly did NOT claim a UFO caused the failure; he disputed the USAF's ~59-minute duration, citing technicians who said the intermittent problem persisted several hours. The incident occurred weeks after Hastings' 27 Sept 2010 press conference.
