During his legal disputes Lazar produced a W-2 tax form showing under ~$1,000 paid by the 'Department of Naval Intelligence,' which supporters cite as corroboration of a Navy billet. Skeptics note no 'Department of Naval Intelligence' exists (it's the Office of Naval Intelligence; defunct 'Department' name dates to WWII) - defenders call it a typo. Researcher John Andrews tried to verify it via Navy/IRS without success. Authenticity remains disputed.
