Peru's first official military UAP office, the Office of Anomalous Aerial Phenomena Investigation, founded/led by Cmdr. Julio Chamorro (Ret.) 1999-2005; predecessor to DIFAA (reopened 2014).
Chamorro justified the office under Chapter 12 of the Peruvian Constitution (duty of the State to safeguard the Nation via its Armed Forces). Closed in 2005; the program was reconstituted as the Department of Anomalous Aerial Phenomena Investigation (DIFAA) under the Peruvian Air Force in 2014. Predecessor of difaa_peru.
