Ghost Rockets: Soviet / Peenemunde V-weapon hypothesis.

competing-explanationcompeting_explanationScandinavian "ghost rockets"

The dominant Cold-War explanation for the 1946 ghost rockets: the USSR test-firing captured German V-1/V-2 rocket technology from the former Peenemunde site.

Never confirmed: no recovered debris matched a rocket, there were no post-Feb-1945 Peenemunde launches, and the Swedish committee's own secretary later said they were sure the objects were not Soviet. The leading conventional candidate, still unresolved.
