Project Mogul was a classified USAAF program flying microphone-laden balloon trains to detect Soviet atomic tests. The 1994/95 and 1997 USAF Roswell reports identified Flight No. 4 (launched 4 June 1947 from Alamogordo) as the debris Brazel found, with the original weather-balloon statement an admitted cover story. The 'hieroglyphic' beams matched flowered adhesive tape from a toy manufacturer. AARO (2024) cites it as the prototype misidentified classified program.
