Shahrokhi Air Base (now Nojeh Air Base) near Hamadan, Iran was an Imperial Iranian Air Force base. During the well-documented 19 September 1976 Tehran incident, two F-4 Phantom interceptors were scrambled — the second from this base — to intercept a brilliant object over Tehran, reportedly experiencing instrumentation and weapons-systems failures as they approached. The base is a real, well-attested facility; the incident itself is a famous, officially-documented (DIA memo) but unexplained case.
