documentedsource_actorContactee & UFO Religion

One of the oldest, non-violent US UFO religions; founded 1954 by Ernest and Ruth Norman; central case study in the sociology of failed prophecy.

[DOCUMENTED] Real NRM founded Feb 1954 in Los Angeles by Ernest L. Norman (1904-1971) and Ruth E. Norman (1900-1993); 'Unarius' = Universal Articulate Interdimensional Understanding of Science. Insists it is a 'science', not a religion; teaches past-life therapy, 'interdimensional physics', art therapy. Survives today as a small archive-focused group in El Cajon, CA. [DOCUMENTED] Predicted a 'Space Brothers' fleet landing in 1974, bought land for it, then repeatedly revised the date (finally 2001) when it failed - a textbook prophetic-disconfirmation case with no mass loss of membership; subject of Diana Tumminia's ethnography When Prophecy Never Fails (2005). Often contrasted with nearby Heaven's Gate (1997) as the benign, non-suicidal counterexample. [CLAIM] Ruth Norman ('Uriel') claimed ~55 past lives (Mary of Bethany, Buddha, Mona Lisa, Socrates, Charlemagne, Queen Elizabeth I); the Normans channeled 'advanced intelligences' on higher frequency planes.
