Vandenberg Air Force Base (now Space Force Base) on the central California coast is a documented U.S. military installation used for missile and warhead flight tests and satellite launches. In UFO lore it is linked to the 1964 Big Sur incident, in which an Air Force optics crew reportedly filmed an object interfering with a dummy warhead during a test. The base is real; the claimed film has never been publicly produced.
