In January 1996 Varginha witnesses reported a red-eyed, foul-smelling creature; a military-police officer who allegedly handled a captured being later died of infection. Claims hold the Army recovered live/dead ETs and a U.S. flight removed a body. Brazilian Army IPM inquiries concluded the creature was a misidentification (the disabled local 'Mudinho') and military movements were routine. Witnesses reject this. Often called 'Brazil's Roswell,' it has been revived at recent UAP conferences and in declassification campaigns.
