documentedsource_actorWhistleblower Claimants
Navy veteran, broadcaster and author (Behold a Pale Horse, 1991) who claimed insider knowledge of MJ-12; later recanted his UFO material as disinformation. Killed in a 2001 police shootout.
Real person (1943-2001). Gained ufology fame at the 1989 MUFON Symposium claiming he had seen classified UFO/MJ-12 briefing documents as a Navy briefing officer. Credentials disputed (reportedly a low-level clerk lacking clearance); other researchers accused him of plagiarizing recycled and partly-joke material. By the mid-1990s he publicly disavowed his alien claims as government disinformation he'd been fed, reframing UFOs as a New World Order cover story. Died 5 Nov 2001 in a shootout with Apache County, AZ deputies serving an arrest warrant after he shot a deputy.
