The Air Force Cambridge Research Laboratories (Geophysical Research Division), in Cambridge, MA, was the AF research organization that administered Project Twinkle, the instrumented effort to monitor green fireballs over New Mexico's nuclear sites. AFCRL scientist Frederic C.E. Oder pushed for instrumented tracking at the October 14, 1949 Los Alamos conference. AFCRL is the institutional home of the Air Force's early scientific approach to the phenomena.
