Postal worker and civil-rights activist; co-witness whose emotional hypnosis sessions described eyed beings, but whose imagery skeptics tie to a 1964 TV episode.
Barney is the second documented witness. His binocular observation of windowed figures is part of the contemporaneous account; his hypnotic recollections were more emotional and later than Betty's. Kottmeyer argued the 'eyes' imagery echoed The Outer Limits' 'The Bellero Shield' aired weeks before his first session, and his being-description diverged from Betty's - both cited as evidence of suggestion. He died of a stroke in 1969.
