Calvine Photograph (1990).

documentedclose_encounterRendlesham Forest (RAF Bentwaters/Woodbridge)

Diamond-shaped object photographed near Calvine, Scotland (~4 Aug 1990) with an apparent RAF jet; widely called the best UK UFO photo. Negatives given to the MoD via the Daily Record and unseen for ~30 years until Dr David Clarke recovered an original print in 2022.

Two men (often said to be hotel workers near Pitlochry) shot six photos of a large stationary diamond craft. The Daily Record passed images and negatives to the MoD; they disappeared and the story was never run. A poor photocopy surfaced in the 2009 National Archives release (TNA DEFE 31/180/1). In 2022 Clarke obtained an original print kept by retired RAF press officer Craig Lindsay, published it (Daily Mail) and donated it to Sheffield Hallam University. Sheffield Hallam's photographic analysis found no hoax evidence but could not identify the object. The credited witness 'Kevin Russell' remains unconfirmed.
