Coral Lorenzen co-founded the Aerial Phenomena Research Organization (APRO) in 1952 with her husband Jim, running one of the era's major civilian UFO groups. APRO, via William Moore, was a conduit through which Doty's fabricated 'secret project' narratives reached the research community. She died in April 1988. A central figure in the organization that was unknowingly used in the disinformation operation.
