Alleged 25 Aug 1974 mid-air collision between a UFO and a small Cessna near Coyame, Chihuahua, Mexico. Story: US radar tracked an object (~2,000 mph) inbound from the Gulf; it converged with a Cessna out of El Paso and both vanished from radar near Coyame. Mexican army recovered a disk-shaped object; reportedly ~24 Mexican soldiers died of contamination; a US team allegedly recovered the wreckage under cover of darkness (-> Wright-Patterson).

[DISPUTED / weak evidentiary ground] 'Mexico's Roswell.' Entire case traces to an ANONYMOUS 1992 document ('Research Findings on the Chihuahua Disk Crash', 'To All Deneb Team Members, From JS') embraced by Leonard Stringfield; NO physical evidence, no named pilot, no flight records. Torres & Uriarte (2013 field investigation, hundreds interviewed) found few eyewitnesses + conflicting stories, and noted locals may conflate a 1967 Pershing-missile crash + a 1980 drug-plane crash-and-recovery north of Coyame. Skeptical alts: Soviet experimental craft / meteorite; the 'bio-contamination' beat mirrors Crichton's Andromeda Strain (1969). History Channel doc 2005.
