Coyote Canyon is a restricted weapons test range on the southeast edge of Kirtland AFB near Albuquerque, NM, shared by the Air Force Weapons Laboratory, Sandia, the Defense Nuclear Agency and DOE (it borders the Manzano underground nuclear-weapons storage complex). It became the focal point of a cluster of August-September 1980 security-guard reports of a landed, glowing aerial object that appeared in the AFOSI 'Kirtland UFO file.' Its significance is geographic: the alleged phenomena clustered over one of the most sensitive nuclear-weapons custody sites in the US. Many of the associated documents were later tied to the Doty/Moore disinformation effort.
