On 13 August 1980, the Kirtland/Albuquerque Radar Approach Control suffered a total outage from roughly 1630 to 2215 hrs attributed to HF radio-frequency jamming. Defense Nuclear Agency RF monitors reportedly vectored the jamming source eastward toward the Coyote Canyon/Manzano area. The event is recorded in the AFOSI Kirtland UFO file and is cited in the 1980 Kirtland landing narrative — though several associated documents are linked to the Doty disinformation stream.
