Border-area crash claim resting on Robert Willingham, whose 'colonel' status and 1950 date were both debunked; tied to the MJ-12 hoax documents.
The Del Rio story comes almost entirely from Robert B. Willingham, who claimed to witness a crash near the Texas-Mexico border as an Air Force pilot, formalized in a 1977 affidavit promoted by W. Todd Zechel. Kevin Randle's records check showed Willingham left the Army as an enlisted E-4 in 1947, not a retired colonel, and Willingham himself later disavowed the 1950 date (offering 1954-57) and cited memory loss. The case is intertwined with the discredited MJ-12 documents' reference to an El Indio-Guerrero 1950 crash.
