The Energy Research and Development Administration (1975-1977) was created by the Energy Reorganization Act of 1974 (P.L. 93-438), which dissolved the AEC into ERDA and the NRC. ERDA carried the AEC's nuclear weapons R&D plus its foreign-intelligence and counterintelligence responsibilities (under an Assistant Administrator for National Security) until being folded into the new DOE by the Department of Energy Organization Act of 1977.
