The discourse shift from 'abductee' (a traumatic thing done TO you) toward 'experiencer/contactee' (a broader, often positive, consciousness-framed encounter).
Partly a response to the discrediting of hypnosis and the Roper indicators: it substitutes self-report surveys and a consciousness/religious-studies lens (FREE, Kripal) for recovered-memory hypnosis. The reframe is a documented shift; the underlying literal-contact claim stays disputed.
