In 1991 the Roper Organization ran six indirect 'indicator' questions (missing time, waking paralyzed, unexplained marks, etc.) for Hopkins, Jacobs, and sociologist Ron Westrum. The 1992 report Unusual Personal Experiences, funded by Robert Bigelow's company, inferred ~2% (about 3.7 million) Americans might be abductees. Skeptics (Skeptical Inquirer) argued the indicators measure mundane phenomena and the figure is a gross over-estimate, implying ~340 abductions per day with no physical evidence.
