About 2:30 a.m. on 3 December 1967 Sgt. Herbert Schirmer, 22, reported a disc with blinking windows over Highway 6/63; he logged the sighting, found ~20 minutes missing, and had a welt below his ear. The Condon Committee selected it as Case 42 (1969 report). Under Leo Sprinkle's hypnosis he recalled uniformed winged-serpent beings, telepathy and a star map. Schirmer passed psychological testing and a polygraph, but the committee declined to endorse hypnotic memory; skeptics question the welt/artifact evidence and the origin of the missing-time framing.
