Peer-reviewed estimate of 2004 Nimitz 'Tic Tac' flight characteristics: lower-bound accelerations ~100g to thousands of g with no sonic boom or thermal signature. Heavily caveated by geometry assumptions.
Published Dec 2019 ('Estimating Flight Characteristics of Anomalous Unidentified Aerial Vehicles in the 2004 Nimitz Encounter') by SCU members Knuth, Powell, and Reali, building on SCU's multi-hundred-page forensic report. Using FLIR1 geometry, radar narratives, and pilot testimony, it estimates accelerations far beyond known aerospace envelopes. The authors themselves flag sensitivity to slant-range, gimbal geometry, and wind assumptions, and the absence of raw SPY-1/ATFLIR telemetry, making the quantitative claims inference-dependent. Status: documented study, but the extreme-performance conclusion is a contested claim, not a confirmed measurement.
