Open-source citizen-science network of affordable all-sky AI camera/sensor stations; successor to SkyHub. Each station auto-flags anomalous trajectories; ~30 volunteer devs, GitHub-hosted.
Sky360 succeeds SkyHub (whose founders reportedly had US-intelligence ties and wound it down). It aims to blanket the earth in $1,500-$5,000 stations: a fisheye AllSkyCam registers all motion 24/7, a pan-tilt-focus camera zooms on flagged events, and an ML trajectory-classifier (trained on planes/birds/insects) flags anomalies via a 'SimpleTracker' component. Off-the-shelf hardware (cameras, passive radar, geophones, magnetometers), ROS2 backend + OpenMCT frontend. One station covers ~30 km; aspirational target ~150,000 stations for global coverage. The open, distributed counterpart to Galileo's centralized observatories.
