Halt is the senior, named, on-record source for Rendlesham. His 1980-81 memo and tape are documented; his 2010 notarised affidavit asserting extraterrestrial origin and a two-government cover-up is contested. Base Commander Ted Conrad publicly rebutted the affidavit, and skeptic Ian Ridpath argues it diverges sharply from Halt's own contemporaneous record. Halt rejects the lighthouse explanation.
