Holloman AFB is a USAF base in south-central New Mexico near the White Sands missile range. In 1950 it hosted manned observation posts and a Land-Air phototheodolite tracking station as part of Project Twinkle, the Air Force's instrumented effort to photograph the green fireballs and other aerial phenomena over the nuclear/missile complex. Holloman also features in later (unverified) UFO 'landing/contact' lore, but its documented role here is as a Project Twinkle observation site.
