The thesis (most associated with Robert Hastings, and echoed by George Knapp and Luis Elizondo) that UAP activity correlates with and appears to surveil nuclear weapons infrastructure. The 1948–1951 New Mexico green-fireball wave — clustered over Los Alamos, Sandia, Manzano and Kirtland and investigated by LaPaz and Project Twinkle — is presented as the founding documented instance. Supporting documents include an FBI memo of Jan 31 1949 and an Aug 23 1950 report tallying ~150 disc/fireball/meteor sightings near the atomic laboratories over 19 months (about half 'unknown'). A 2025 DoD/AARO-related release reportedly includes 116 pages on 209 'green orbs/discs/fireballs' near Sandia, 1948–1950. Skeptics offer natural explanations (magnesium/nickel bolides; ionized-oxygen or buoyant plasma per Dr. Stephen Hughes, 2006).
