The UAP Task Force was a US government body stood up in 2020 under the Department of the Navy and the Office of Naval Intelligence to coordinate detection and analysis of unidentified aerial phenomena encountered by the military. It authored the data behind the ODNI's June 2021 Preliminary Assessment, which examined 144 UAP reports. It matters as the first formally chartered, post-2017 US UAP analysis effort and the institutional bridge to today's AARO.
